Rhode Island Red Hens bred specifically for their egg laying ability. Raised in the fresh mountain air near Rincon de la Vieja National Park in Costa Rica.
Who says chickens are not social animals? Take a look at the photos below of Rafael, our farm worker, and one of our hens that has taken a particular liking to him. Rosita follows Rafael around like a puppy dog when he is working within the free range area. She even hops up on his shoulder and will stay there for periods of time while he is working. Rosita is actually typical of most of the hens - they come running any time one of us enters the fenced in free range area just to say "hello!" Of course, if we happen to have some treats for them with us, such as fruit & vegetable scraps, they all come running, eager to have a fresh snack.
